Snowed In...Again!

The past couple days have been crazy as we have been snowed/iced in at our house.  Both the girls and me have been going crazy for some fresh air and activities away from the house.  Cooper has been a really good girl, despite having to miss school and be cooped all day.  School was back in session today and Cooper was very excited to play with her friends.  However, more snow is on the way, so I have a feeling we will be stuck here for the next few days.

Above are some pictures of the girls playing in the pack n' play.  If Carsyn is in there alone, she cries.  But if Cooper is in with her, she will play for a long time and this is so helpful when I need to cook dinner or clean up!  They both are into everything, so I enjoy having a few minutes here and there to know they are not getting into trouble.  It's so cute because Cooper comes up with all of these outlandish and elaborate pretend games to play and she tried to get Carsyn to play along.  Carsyn just laughs and laughs and I love to just watch them together.  I hope they are always so sweet to one another.

Carysn will be 9 months old next week and I can't believe it!  I am anxious for her well check visit because I have lots of questions to ask our pedi.  I know it is the age, but Carsyn has gone from being the most easygoing baby to being a total drama queen.  She doesn't love baby food.  Unless I can get her to eat it at the perfect moment of happiness, she refuses to eat it.  And she will not touch the vegetables.  It is so frustrating as I know she really needs to be eating a variety of foods now.  I also tried (and failed) to start getting her to take the bottle.  I feel like my milk supply is decreasing and I would like to have the option to offer her the bottle if I need to.  I tried to hold firm for two days, using the "if she is hungry enough, she will take the bottle" reasoning.  I think that saying is crap.  She wins everytime.

Carysn is a great sleeper at night and always has been.  However, the napping has always been a challenge.  I finally have been able to get her to take two regular naps a day- but only in the bouncer.  Well, this is a problem because she is so big that the straps on the bouncer will only close on one side.  I tried to get her to nap in the crib this week and not only was she not having it- she got so fussy and overtired that she refused to nap at all.  Combine this with failed bottle attempts and being snowed in and it was a very frustrating couple of days!

Overall life is good and we have no complaints.  We feel very blessed and give thanks everyday!  We hope all of our friends and family will have a wonderful 2010!

Miss "I don't want to nap in the crib an you can't make me!"

  1. That is great that Cooper will get in the pack n play and entertain Carysn... NICE, plus they are both contained :)

I can't imagine what you are going through with being stuck inside. I have been going crazy with just this cold weather we have been having...to cold to go out and play! We are expected to get snow tonight so I am praying we still have school tomorrow, if not, looks like it will be another inside day for us.

Don't worry about the food with Carysn. Right now there main food supply should be milk. She will get there. As for the bottle, have you tried having someone else give her the bottle. That is what I had to do. They will not take it from you because they would rather have it the other way. Just a thought. Sorry I am not much help.

  2. It looks like you guys had a wonderful Christmas! So glad you got to spend it with both families and special friends. I know Jannon's mom thinks of you as a daughter so she loves having you visit. Though Jannon hasn't gotten to meet Carysn in person she is watching over you and the girls and she will get to meet her and play with her some day. :)

I can't imagine being stuck indoors because of snow but at least you get snow. I would love to have snow. We actually may get snow flurries down in Orlando -- which is CRAZY! My blood has thinned so much that I am freezing wiht it being in the 40's during the day and high 20's at night. I am ready for some warmer weather. Hope you guys don't get too much snow where things are closed down. Its not fun with the whole family gets stir crazy!

Carysn sounds like a difficult eater like Hailey. I can't help with the bottle issue but I do know that people who have had that problem have their husband fit them. They know they can get the real thing from you so they will put up a fight. Make sure to write down all your ?'s for your doc and don't feel silly for asking. Hailey is a very attached little girl and she will scream when I get off her site. It drives me nuts! Hang in there girl! You are doing a great job!!
